How to improve communication during the Coronavirus pandemic

The importance of communication can not be understated, because it has a vital role in our lives. It helps not only us to share information and knowledge, but it also maintains a way to develop social relationships with others.

During this crazy pandemic, almost all industries are affected, but it’s essential to never quit. For the first time, clients are not simply clients anymore: they are partners in these tough times in which we have to support each other more than ever.

The Appointfix, every member of the team is trying to find new, inspiring and useful ideas to improve our appointment scheduling app when you’ll be back in business.

If you haven’t download yet our scheduling app, you can do it now from the App Store or Google Play.

Even if we live in isolation for a while, we can’t interrupt the process of communication. We communicate through words, gestures, whispers, clothes, and even silence. Everything around us is a symbol that has a meaning, which communicates something. Therefore, how to communicate better nowadays, when we all feel like there’s a lack of communication between people?

1. Keep up the communication with your clients

Yes, your clients are still very important even if you won’t see each other for a little while. It is fundamental for you to keep them informed regarding the status of your business during COVID-19, SMS campaigns are a great way to keep in touch. Show them how much you care. In the end… they are YOUR clients because, over time, you showed them that you do.

Keep them updated

You need to let all your clients know about any changes your business suffered. If you need to stop your activity, reduce your hours, or even let clients know that you’re still open, you should send them a text message regarding the latest updates in your business. Here’s a template for you about how your message should look like:

“Hi, it’s …….. from ……… with an important update. Unfortunately, we had to close our doors from …… as the government announced temporary closures for all nonessential businesses. Please call us on …….. to rebook your appointment. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you as soon as possible. Best, …….. .”

If your business is still going on in your area, assure your clients that you’ve prepared yourself and you respected all the hygiene rules. Working in a safe environment will encourage your clients to come to you without thinking that they will put their health in danger. You should send them a message reminder like this one:

“Hi, it’s…. from……. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the salon on…… We would like to let you know that we fully respect the hygiene rules and we work in a safe environment. Please reply to confirm that you can still make it and that you are healthy and haven’t been traveling in the last 14 days. Stay safe & see you soon!”

According to ABC News, those are the states that have decided the closure for nonessential businesses in the USA.

Be active on social media

social-media

It is very important to be visually present in your client’s life. Even if you can’t see them for a while, give them some piece of advice through social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Write some tips and tricks to maintain them gorgeous even at home.

Online sessions

In this case, some are luckier than others. Want to know how to become a successful online personal trainer? Well, I think this is the right time to do it.

nail-instagram-posting

Regarding nail artists or hairstylists, things are different but there’s a solution for everything, right? If you are a hairstylist or a nail artist, Instagram stories or Facebook stories are a great opportunity for you to communicate with your clients. They don’t have much to do at home in this period, so a good thing would be to let them follow some interesting content on your profile.

Make some nail or make-up tutorials for them, make a video while you’re styling your hair, write some tips for maintaining their nails or hair healthy until the next session with you.

2. Improve communication with your friends and family

If you had no time to stay home until now, enjoy some time with your loved ones and show them how much you care about them. Now is the perfect time to do it. Enjoy the little things that bring more happiness to your life. Rediscover your values and meditate on them.

Spend time with your family

Spending quality time with your family beats money and every other material possession. While spending some time alone is important to find inspiration and creativity, spending time with your dear ones is just as important. Research shows that spending time with family has an incredible power to boost your happiness. Time with your dear ones is the best way to create memorable experiences. There’s a good chance to listen to their needs and to build a stronger relationship. Find some funny games, cook together, wash your hands together :), watch a movie and discuss it. Everything will contribute to improving your family relationship.

Make a selection through your stuff

You have enough free time in this period, right? What would you think about making a selection through your stuff? Take your photo albums and remember some important, emotional parts of your life with your loved ones. As L.M. Montgomery said once, “nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Call your friends

Take your time and call your friends once a day. Yes, I know, you used to have those long conversations in a cafe together, but now you’ll drink your coffees separately, talking on the phone. Remind yourself of some funny moments from childhood, tell yourself about events you didn’t share before. You may not think about isolation from this perspective, but it is a good time to rediscover ourselves and to get closer to each other.

Read together

family-reading

Read everything. Read a lot. Set goals to finish a book within a certain amount of time. Make a family reading contest. Set prizes. Who’s next to cook dinner? Ha, ha. It’s the right time to read absolutely everything you like. Fantasy, action, romance, political novels, poems, or personal development. Use this time to learn new information and share them. There’s nothing like finding a good book that will let you enjoy a little while in another world. Share with your family and friends what you have read, spread knowledge and information.

“You can change the world by changing your words.” -Joel Osteen

Of course, you need to know and respect the protection measures to prevent the spreading of the new Coronavirus, but it is also important not to forget about people around you and how important it is to support each other and to spread some good vibes around you. Let’s let hope, peace, and joy spread fast as well. Let’s be so filled with them, that our friends, family, and clients will be catching them too. Make a compliment, tell some encouraging words to your co-workers or your friends, send a good vibe text message to your clients. Bring peace, joy, and hope, instead of reading and listening to all news that ruins our good, positive state of mind.
