Why do you ask my clients for consent?
In the US, there is a federal law called CTPA that regulates automated call/sms, and it requires express consent from clients. This means, to be 100% covered, we need to have proof that the client consented to SMS notifications.
This is an extra safety measure for us (and you), required by the law in the US. However, we are still sending the messages even if they don’t reply Yes. The only situation when we don’t send them is if they reply STOP. But I don’t think you’d like to send messages to someone who specifically asked not to receive a message.
That’s the whole point of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), under which penalties are starting from $500/unsolicited text message. We’re just trying to protect you and us from fines and lawsuits.
Please instruct them to reply Yes to the first message.
